Ahmedabad, December 26, 2022: With the change in weather, a drastic difference between day and night temperatures, and a smog effect in most urban belts, the incidents of respiratory illnesses have gone up, according to market reports. Medkart, a leading omnichannel retailer of generic medicines estimates that in such a scenario, patients can save up to 83% on their medical bills for respiratory ailments if they shift to generic medicines.

“Commonly used medicines for the treatment of respiratory ailments include Budesonide, Formoterol and Acebrophylline over and above common antibiotics and antihistamines. As the cases of respiratory ailments go up due to changing seasons, adoption of generic medicines is the way forward to save up on medical bills. If a customer shifts to generic variants of these molecules instead of their branded counterparts, they may be able to save anywhere between 50% and 83% of their medical bills,” said Ankur Agarwal, co-founder, Medkart.

Estimates by Medkart suggest that over the past couple of months, the sale of medicines used to treat respiratory illnesses has shown a 60% rise than average sale, indicating a rise in incidents.

“At Medkart, we firmly believe that the unsustainable rise in healthcare costs will have a detrimental impact on average Indian households and therefore, changing the way we deliver healthcare is extremely critical. Every change begins with us and and our aim is to create more awareness among consumers on how they can reduce their healthcare costs by turning to generics and making the best quality WHO-GMP certified medicines available to them,” Agarwal further went on to say.

Medkart has been changing the lives of people by reducing their healthcare costs, one generic at a time over the past eight years. Recently the company launched two dedicated digital platforms – a portal (https://www.medkart.in/) and a mobile app, using which customers can learn about generic medicines, compare possible alternatives and also buy them.

Medkart’s message is to promote and encourage use of generic medicines for treatment of all ailments.
