New Delhi :  The Parul Sevashram Hospital has a NICU PICU complex with 25 beds and paediatricians, paediatric surgeons, and experienced staff. The hospital has been certified by NABH. The hospital’s infrastructure and services have been improved thanks to the addition of a milk bank.

This is an important step in the fight against infant malnutrition, as the availability of human milk banks is crucial. Milk Bank was inaugurated by Chief District Health Officer of Vadodara Dr. Minaxi Chauhan, who was joined by Guest of Honor Dr. Narayan Gaonkar (Maternal Health Specialist from UNICEF in Gandhinagar).

Breastfeeding is essential for a child’s health, growth, and development, and it also benefits the family, the community, and the nation as a whole. Human milk banks (HMBs) provide a valuable alternative for infants who cannot receive their mother’s milk for various reasons.

To ensure that premature, low birth weight, and other at-risk infants have access to the many benefits of breastmilk in their time of greatest need, the establishment of HMBs is an essential component of a breastfeeding-friendly health system.

The Human Milk Bank has safeguards in place for collecting, screening, processing, and dispensing donated breast milk, and the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology should run regular campaigns to encourage mothers to give milk.

The medical school at Parul University is the state’s eighth and is funded entirely by private sources. Dr. Geetika Patel, medical director,  believes that adding a milk bank will help them reach their goal of “Health for all”
