Surat : Paresh Patel, a close associate of Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil, has been appointed as the new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Surat unit. With a strong background in business, governance, and public service, Patel’s appointment marks a strategic move by the party to strengthen its hold in Surat, a key economic and political hub of Gujarat.

Paresh Patel comes from a modest background and has made a name for himself as a businessman. Over the years, he has held multiple influential positions that highlight his leadership capabilities. He previously served as the president of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), one of the most significant trade organizations in the region. His role at SGCCI helped him build strong connections within Surat’s business community.

Additionally, Patel was the chairman of the standing committee of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), a position that gives him direct involvement in the city’s administrative and development policies. As a municipal councillor from the Udhana ward, he has been actively engaged in resolving civic issues and addressing public grievances.
