ONGC, SGCCI Host Vendor Meet to Empower MSMEs in Surat

Under this vendor meet organised by SGCCI, a number of entrepreneurs and suppliers from South Gujarat had direct contact with the officials of ONGC Hazira Plant.

Surat, Gujarat – The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI)  in association with ONGC Hazira Plant organized a Vendor Development Meet at Sarsana, Surat,  with the theme Let’s bridge the gap between potential & opportunity was to empower the small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and women entrepreneurs working in various sectors in South Gujarat including Surat.

ONGC Hazira plant manager Chandra Shekhar, Support Manager S.S. Bhattacharya, HPO GM  Ashok Thakur were present.

President of SGCCI Nikhil Madrasi said that the main objective of this special meet organized with the theme ‘Let’s bridge the gap between potential & opportunity was to empower the small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and women entrepreneurs working in various sectors in South Gujarat including Surat’. The SGCCI provided an opportunity to the entrepreneurs of South Gujarat to present their services and their products.

SGCCI vice-president Ashok Jirawala, said that the main objective of this meet was to create equal opportunities for active participation of all entrepreneurs including women entrepreneurs, promote transparency in public sector procurement and develop long-term business relations between ONGC and MSMEs, and to create more clarity on the procurement policy, methods and processes.

Plant Manager of ONGC Hazira Plant, Chandra Shekhar said that ONGC purchases through GeM (Government evMarketplace) and GePNIC (evProcurement) platforms based on the rules and regulations of the government, hence he also explained both these platforms to the entrepreneurs and suppliers. ONGC also works for vendor development, so he requested new suppliers to join them.

SGCCI and ONGC officials stated that they will continue to organize such meets in a comprehensive manner with a view to providing more opportunities to local suppliers and entrepreneurs. Events like vendor development give a new direction to entrepreneurs and prove to be important in connecting small industries with the mainstream of government procurement.

Under this vendor meet, a number of entrepreneurs and suppliers from South Gujarat had direct contact with the officials of ONGC Hazira Plant. In this meet, a detailed discussion was held through an open forum with questions and answers, in which the entrepreneurs not only presented their problems but also gave detailed information about their ventures.
