Navya Naveli Nanda, granddaughter of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, recently opened up about the trolling and negativity she faced following her admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. Despite the online criticism, Navya has remained focused on her goals, emphasizing her commitment to personal growth and professional aspirations.

In a candid response to the backlash, Navya expressed her views on social media’s role in shaping public opinion. “Social media has been a great platform because it’s given a lot of people a voice, especially those who previously might not have had that kind of reach,” she said. She also expressed her pride in being accepted into one of India’s most esteemed educational institutions. “India has some of the finest institutions in the world, and being a part of IIM Ahmedabad is incredible. I feel fortunate to receive higher education under the guidance of some of the finest professors in the world.”

Handling Negativity with Grace

When asked how she deals with the trolling that followed her admission announcement, Navya’s response was one of maturity and resilience. She shared that while criticism is inevitable, especially given her background, she chooses to view feedback as an opportunity for growth. “If I consider myself to be working for people, I don’t think I can be offended by what they say. It’s essential for me to look at feedback; it will only make me a better person, a better entrepreneur, and a better Indian.”

Acknowledging her privileged upbringing, Navya said she understands why people might have strong opinions about her achievements. “I accept that I come from a very different lived reality. People will have something to say about that.” However, she remains undeterred in her pursuit of excellence, focusing on her personal and professional development. “I don’t give a lot of thought to what people say negatively; I use it to do the best I can in my journey.”

A New Chapter at IIM-Ahmedabad

Navya’s admission to IIM Ahmedabad, where she will be pursuing an MBA as part of the BPGP Class of 2026, has been a subject of intense online discussion. Sharing the news of her admission on Instagram, Navya posted, “Dreams do come true !!!!!! Home for the next 2 years… with the best people & faculty! BPGP MBA Class of 2026.”

While many celebrated her achievement, a section of social media users expressed doubt about her enrollment, questioning whether her admission was based on merit. Some users alleged that her family’s influence played a role, but Navya’s supporters quickly came to her defense. Many of her fans pointed out her previous accomplishments as an entrepreneur and advocate for women’s health, highlighting her qualifications and dedication.

Focused on Her Future

Navya has consistently chosen to keep her attention on her work rather than engage with negative commentary. As the founder of Aara Health, a women’s health platform, and co-founder of Project Naveli, which focuses on gender equality, Navya has already made significant strides in her entrepreneurial career. Her educational journey at IIM Ahmedabad is another step in furthering her ambitions, and she remains resolute in her commitment to making a positive impact on society.

While public figures like Navya are often subjected to scrutiny, her composed response to trolling demonstrates her ability to stay grounded amidst the noise. By focusing on her goals and using criticism as a tool for self-improvement, Navya continues to carve out her own path, proving that resilience and determination are key to success in any field.
