Ahmedabad, Gujarat — A mysterious firing incident has rocked the quiet residential locality of Shivalik Row House near Kabir Enclave in Bopal, leaving 40-year-old Kalpesh Tudia dead and police scrambling to untangle a web of suspicion, missing evidence, and delayed reporting.

Kalpesh, originally from Rajkot and living in Ahmedabad for over 13 years, was found with a gunshot wound to the temple, allegedly self-inflicted. However, the circumstances are anything but straightforward. While police recovered a suicide note from his pocket, the firearm used in the incident remains missing — and so do two unidentified visitors who met him shortly before the shooting.

Sudden Visit, Deadly End

According to police, Kalpesh Tudia, a sharebroker by profession, had informed his 14-year-old daughter that two men would be coming to meet him on Tuesday evening. Around 8:45 pm, the men arrived in a white car. The three had a conversation for about an hour, after which Kalpesh reportedly retrieved something from the car and returned home.

Moments later, a gunshot was heard.

“I rushed upstairs and saw him lying in a pool of blood,” said Kalpesh’s daughter in her police statement. She immediately made a video call to her mother, showing her father’s condition. Kalpesh was rushed to Saraswati Hospital, where he was declared dead.

The hospital, not the family, informed the Bopal police about the incident at 10 PM, over an hour after the gunshot — a delay that has raised red flags.

Suicide Note Found, Gun Missing

Deputy Superintendent of Police Neelam Goswami addressed the media, stating:

“We found a suicide note in his pocket. It will be sent to FSL for handwriting verification. However, the weapon used is unaccounted for, and we have identified two persons who met him shortly before the incident.”

Investigators recovered a spent bullet and an empty case, but the weapon remains elusive. Curiously, Kalpesh had no firearm license, and his Thar SUV bore stickers with ‘303’ — a rifle model — suggesting a fascination with guns.

Adding to the mystery, attempts were made to clean the blood at the crime scene, and the two men who came to meet Kalpesh were seen leaving hurriedly after the shooting. Police have traced their car and are in search of both individuals.

Murder or Suicide?

Police have currently registered the case as accidental death, pending further investigation.

“The preliminary probe suggests the two men were not known to Kalpesh earlier. The meeting may have been arranged on the same day and is likely linked to the incident,” DYSP Goswami added.
