Officials identified the suspect through technical analysis and digital tracking methods. The individual is currently being interrogated, and authorities are also probing whether similar offences were committed against other minors.
Incident linked to online gaming platform
The case dates back to October 2025, when Akshay Kumar publicly spoke about the disturbing incident at a Cyber Awareness Month event in Mumbai. He revealed that his 13-year-old daughter was playing an online video game that allowed interaction with strangers when the incident occurred.
He explained that the conversation initially appeared normal, with the unknown user exchanging polite messages and asking general questions. However, the interaction later escalated when the individual allegedly asked the child for inappropriate images. Following this, she immediately exited the platform and informed her mother.
Actor raises cyber safety concerns
Akshay Kumar used the incident to highlight growing concerns around children’s safety in the digital space. He emphasized how easily minors can be exposed to cyber threats, including harassment, exploitation, and extortion through online platforms.
He also urged authorities to introduce dedicated cyber safety education in schools, suggesting weekly sessions for students in classes 7 to 10 to raise awareness about online risks and responsible internet usage.
Investigation continues
Following the public disclosure, a formal investigation was initiated by cybercrime officials. Authorities have now confirmed the arrest of a suspect and stated that further inquiry is ongoing.
Police are examining digital evidence to determine whether the accused has been involved in similar misconduct in other cases involving minors.

The incident had earlier triggered widespread concern across the film industry and renewed discussions on child safety in online gaming and social media platforms.
Akshay Kumar, who is married to Twinkle Khanna, has two children, including daughter Nitara and son Aarav Bhatia. He has not issued an additional statement following the latest arrest.
The case continues to be under active investigation by Maharashtra Cyber Police.
