M.K. Das Appointed as New Chief Secretary of Gujarat

Senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Das, a 1990-batch Gujarat cadre officer and IIT Kharagpur alumnus, takes charge as the new Chief Secretary of Gujarat, succeeding Pankaj Joshi on November 1.

Gandhinagar | Gujarat — Manoj Kumar Das aka MK Das, who is currently serving as the Additional chief secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), has been appointed as the chief secretary of Gujarat following the retirement of his predecessor Pankaj Joshi on October 31. 

After Pankaj Joshi retires, M. K. Das, the Chief Secretary of Gujarat, will take over. 

As per the official sources, the current Chief Secretary, Pankaj Joshi, will retire on October 31.   Pankaj Joshi will retire on November 1, and M.K. Das will become the state’s chief secretary.   It’s important to note that M.K. Das, one of the top officers in the Gujarat cadre, has been a key person in the CMO.

M.K. Das has held many important posts. 

M.K. Das, the new Chief Secretary of Gujarat, is a well-known and experienced Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Das, a senior officer from the Gujarat cadre of 1990, is well-known for his great leadership, open governance, and knowledge of technology. 

Manoj Kumar Das was born on December 20, 1966, in the Darbhanga district of Bihar.   His education sets him apart from other administrative officers.   He graduated from IIT Kharagpur, the best university in India, with a B.Tech. (Hons) in Computer Science. This shows that he knows a lot about technology, innovation, and management.

M.K. Das has been an IAS officer in Gujarat for a long time and has held many important positions.   He has done a great job as the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporations of Vadodara and Surat, where he was in charge of major improvements in city planning, cleanliness, and development.

As Chairman of the Gujarat Marine Board (GMB), he put into place new rules that made the state’s port management and coastal development much better.   In 2018, he was named Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
