Apple has increased the prices of several iPhone models in India following the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo. The biggest increase among the existing standard models comes on the iPhone 17, whose price has jumped by ₹17,000.

The iPhone 17 price in India now starts at ₹99,900 for the 256GB model, compared with its original launch price of ₹82,900. The 512GB version now costs ₹1,24,900.

Apple has also increased the prices of the iPhone 16, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air. The changes make Apple’s current India lineup considerably more expensive just as the company enters the festive shopping season.

iPhone 17 Price in India After the Hike

The standard iPhone 17 has received a ₹17,000 increase over its original launch price.

iPhone model Original launch price New India price Increase
iPhone 17 256GB ₹82,900 ₹99,900 ₹17,000
iPhone 17 512GB ₹1,02,900 ₹1,24,900 ₹22,000
iPhone 17e 256GB ₹64,900 ₹79,900 ₹15,000
iPhone 16 ₹79,900 ₹89,900 ₹10,000
iPhone Air ₹1,19,900 ₹1,49,900 ₹30,000

The revised pricing was reported immediately after Apple’s September 9 launch event.

Why Did Apple Increase the iPhone 17 Price?

The price revision comes immediately after Apple introduced its new premium lineup.

The company launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, while also introducing the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. Apple has therefore changed the pricing structure of the models that remain in its India lineup.

Industry reports have linked the broader price increase to higher component and manufacturing costs, although Apple has not publicly announced a detailed explanation for every India price revision.

The result is unusual for Apple’s annual upgrade cycle. Instead of older iPhones becoming cheaper after the new generation arrives, several models have become more expensive.

iPhone 17 Specifications

The iPhone 17 continues to feature a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The display also supports an Always-On mode and up to 3,000 nits peak outdoor brightness. Apple uses Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, along with an anti-reflective layer designed to improve visibility in bright conditions.

The phone is powered by Apple’s A19 chip and comes with a 48MP Fusion main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera.

The front camera has also been upgraded to an 18MP Center Stage camera, allowing users to capture wider photos and stay centred during video calls.

Apple rates the iPhone 17 for up to 30 hours of video playback.

iPhone 17 Price: Is It Still Worth Buying?

The iPhone 17 is now in a different position because of the price increase.

At ₹99,900, the 256GB model is significantly more expensive than its original ₹82,900 launch price. The higher price also brings it closer to Apple’s premium pricing tiers.

For buyers specifically looking for an iPhone 17 price below ₹90,000, Apple’s official store no longer offers the same launch pricing. Third-party retailers may still have discounts or remaining stock, so shoppers may find a different street price from Apple’s official price.

iPhone 16 Price in India Also Increased

Apple has also increased the price of the iPhone 16 in India.

The model previously started at ₹79,900, while the revised price is ₹89,900 for the relevant configuration reported by TOI. Apple’s online store also currently lists different storage configurations, with the 128GB model at ₹79,900 and 256GB at ₹89,900.

This makes the iPhone 16 less of a budget alternative than it was before the latest price revision.

iPhone 17e Price Increased by ₹15,000

The iPhone 17e has also become more expensive.

Its launch price was ₹64,900 for 256GB. Following the latest revision, the reported starting price has increased to ₹79,900, representing a ₹15,000 jump.

The iPhone 17e remains Apple’s more affordable member of the iPhone 17 family, with the A19 chip and a 48MP Fusion camera.

iPhone Air Gets the Biggest Price Increase

The most significant increase among the existing models is for the iPhone Air.

Its launch price of ₹1,19,900 has reportedly increased by ₹30,000 to ₹1,49,900.

The iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, Always-On functionality and Dynamic Island. It uses the A19 Pro chip and has a 48MP Fusion rear camera and 18MP Center Stage front camera.

Apple claims up to 27 hours of video playback for the iPhone Air.

What Happened to iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max?

The arrival of the new Pro models has changed the status of the previous generation.

Apple has retired the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max from its active store lineup to make room for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Remaining units may still be available through third-party retailers while stocks last.

The original India starting prices were around ₹1,34,900 for the iPhone 17 Pro and ₹1,49,900 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, according to current market references. The new iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900.

So consumers searching for the iPhone 17 Pro price in India or iPhone 17 Pro Max price in India may now find retailer-specific prices rather than an active Apple India price.

iPhone 18 Pro Price Makes the New Lineup More Expensive

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 in India, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900.

Pre-orders for both models begin September 12, with retail availability starting September 18.

This means Apple’s premium Pro lineup has moved considerably higher compared with the outgoing iPhone 17 Pro generation.

Apple’s Current iPhone Pricing in India

Following the latest changes, Apple’s India lineup can broadly be viewed as follows:

  • iPhone 17: From ₹99,900
  • iPhone 17e: From ₹79,900
  • iPhone 16: From ₹89,900
  • iPhone Air: From ₹1,49,900
  • iPhone 18 Pro: From ₹1,64,900
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max: From ₹1,79,900
  • iPhone Duo: From ₹2,99,900

The exact price can vary according to storage and configuration.

What Should iPhone Buyers Do Now?

The price increase changes the value equation for buyers considering an iPhone 17 or iPhone 16.

If the priority is getting an iPhone at the lowest possible price, retailer discounts on older stock could become important. Buyers interested specifically in the newest Pro hardware will need to move to the iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Meanwhile, the iPhone Duo sits at the top of the lineup at ₹2,99,900, giving Apple an entirely new ultra-premium category in India.

For consumers planning a purchase during the upcoming festive season, comparing Apple’s official prices with authorised retailer offers could therefore make a significant difference.
