Industrialist’s Wife Dies by Suicide in Surat, Police Begin Probe

Surat | Gujarat — A shocking tragedy has gripped Surat after a young woman from a prominent business family was found dead at her residence just two months after her marriage. Khyati Kejriwal, wife of an industrialist, allegedly died by suicide at her bungalow in Subhashnagar on April 21, sending shockwaves through the business community in Surat.

According to police, the newly married woman was discovered hanging in her bedroom on the third floor of the family residence. Officers from Umra police station rushed to the spot after receiving the alert and shifted the body for postmortem examination.

No Suicide Note Found, Cause Still Unknown

Investigators said no suicide note was found at the scene, leaving the exact reason behind the tragic step unclear. Police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated further investigation.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Malhotra said the incident unfolded late in the evening after family members grew concerned when Khyati did not leave her room for a long time.

“According to relatives, she went to rest after dinner. When she did not respond for several hours, the family opened the door with another key and found her hanging with a dupatta,” the officer said.

She was immediately rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Family and Business Community in Shock

News of the incident quickly spread, and relatives gathered at the residence as police began preliminary inquiries. The deceased was married into a family that runs Family Harmony Yarns, a well-known yarn manufacturing and export company.

Police sources said both families are financially stable and involved in business, including the plastic granules and textile sectors. Officials confirmed that statements from family members are being recorded as part of the investigation.

Postmortem Underway, Probe Continues

The body has been sent for postmortem to determine further details, while investigators are examining all possible angles.
