A major acquisition in the artificial intelligence sector is set to significantly boost the fortunes of several young tech entrepreneurs, including Indian-origin executive Aman Sanger, following Elon Musk’s SpaceX agreement to acquire AI coding startup Cursor’s parent company, Anysphere.

SpaceX announced that it will acquire Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, an AI-powered coding assistant that helps software developers write, edit, and optimize code using artificial intelligence. The deal values the company at approximately $60 billion, making it one of the largest AI acquisitions to date.

Among the biggest beneficiaries of the transaction is Aman Sanger, who serves as Anysphere’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). Also benefiting is Sualeh Asif, the company’s Chief Product Officer (CPO). Both are part of Cursor’s founding team and hold significant ownership stakes in the company.

Founded in 2022 by Aman Sanger, Sualeh Asif, Michael Truell, and Arvid Lunnemark, Cursor has rapidly emerged as one of the most successful AI developer tools in the market. Reports indicate that each co-founder owns roughly 4.5% of the company. Following the acquisition, the net worth of each founder is estimated to rise to approximately $2.7 billion, according to Forbes estimates.

The deal is also expected to generate substantial returns for major venture capital firms. Investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Thrive Capital are reportedly sitting on stakes valued at around $6 billion and $4.2 billion, respectively.

Cursor’s growth has been fueled by surging demand for AI-assisted software development. According to Forbes, the company’s annualized revenue increased from approximately $2 billion in February to $3 billion in April, before surpassing $4 billion in June 2026. Much of this momentum has been attributed to Cursor’s Cloud Agents feature, which can independently work on complex programming tasks for extended periods.

SpaceX and Cursor reportedly began collaborating earlier this year, with discussions eventually leading to the acquisition agreement. As part of the arrangement, SpaceX had secured rights to purchase the company at the $60 billion valuation.

The partnership is also focused on developing next-generation AI models. According to SpaceX, the jointly developed technology could eventually be integrated into both Cursor’s coding platform and Grok, the AI chatbot created by Musk’s AI company xAI.

The acquisition highlights the growing convergence between artificial intelligence and aerospace technology while cementing Cursor’s position as one of the most valuable AI software companies in the world.
