In Surat, textile entrepreneur returns lost diamond packet to its rightful owner
Kalpesh Jetani, a diamond manufacturer, unwittingly misplaced a diamond packet containing polished diamonds worth Rs 7 lakh in Varachha
Surat (Gujarat): A textile entrepreneur who found a packet containing the glittering diamonds in Mini Bazaar in Varachha about a fortnight ago returned it to its rightful owner on Monday at the Surat Diamond Association’s (SDA) office here.
Kalpesh Jetani, a diamond manufacturer, unwittingly misplaced a diamond packet containing polished diamonds worth Rs 7 lakh. Jetani went to the Prince Safe Deposit vault in Mini Bazaar in Varachha on December 17 and lost the diamond packet.
Meanwhile, textile entrepreneur Dharmesh Sakhiya and his friend Jagdish Sukhadia visited the Prince Safe Deposit vault in Varachha, where they found the diamond packet. The two picked up the packet and posted notices in all of Varachha’s diamond markets informing people about the lost diamond packet and urging them to contact its rightful owner.
Jetani decided to visit Prince Safe Deposit Vault on January 26 after failing to locate his lost diamond packet at his factory. He couldn’t find the packet in the safe vault, so the notice on the wall piqued his interest. Jetani called the number on the notice right away to claim his diamond packet.
Dharmesh Sakhiya, a textile entrepreneur, double-checked the diamond packet’s details and decided to return it to its rightful owner once he was satisfied.
Jetani and Sakhiya were both invited by SDA office-bearers, and the lost diamond packet was exchanged on January 2.
“This is not the first incident where a diamond trader or manufacturer who lost his diamond packet in Varachha or Mahidharpura has gotten back their valued diamonds,” said Damji Mavani, secretary of SDA. We admire the people of Varachha and Katargam for their humanity and spirit. Only in Surat’s diamond district are lost diamond packets returned.”
