Chicago, IL : In a lawsuit filed in the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, iCareBilling, a Chicago-based healthcare IT company, is seeking to recover over $15,000 in outstanding payments from its former client, Corey and Cynthia Dabney Behavioral Health Hospital DBA Dabney Behavioral Health. This marks the first public disclosure of iCareBilling’s legal action against the healthcare practice for breach of contract.

The lawsuit, filed by the Law Offices of Edward P. Graham, Ltd. on behalf of iCareBilling and its CEO, Israr Kazmi, alleges that Dabney Behavioral Health failed to settle outstanding invoices for medical billing services provided under a 2021 agreement. The dispute reportedly arose several months before the termination of services when Dabney Behavioral Health abruptly stopped making payments on undisputed invoices. Despite numerous reminders and a formal demand letter sent in October 2023, the healthcare practice allegedly failed to respond or settle the debt, prompting iCareBilling to pursue legal action.

“We take pride in providing reliable and efficient medical billing solutions to our clients,” stated Mr. Kazmi. “However, we cannot tolerate situations where clients renege on their contractual obligations. This lawsuit serves as a reminder that we will pursue all legal avenues to recover what is rightfully owed to our company.”

The lawsuit, assigned to Judge Catherine A. Schneider, details the breach of contract and seeks full recovery of the outstanding payments, along with any applicable late fees stipulated in the agreement. The court date is scheduled for March 18, 2024.

This legal development highlights the challenges faced by healthcare IT companies in navigating financial disputes within the industry. Mr. Kazmi emphasizes that iCareBilling remains committed to serving its clients with integrity while upholding its own financial interests.
