Gandhinagar | Gujarat — Gujarat Police has taken a significant step towards strengthening public safety and mobility with the induction of 50 new Quick Response Team (QRT) bikes, flagged off by Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi at the Gandhinagar Secretariat. The move is expected to provide faster response in tackling crime, ensuring traffic order, and enhancing security across the state.

“These bikes will prove to be a boon for Gujarat Police. They will ensure that our officers can reach sensitive areas quickly, prevent crime, and manage traffic efficiently,” said Harsh Sanghvi during the flag-off ceremony.

The QRT bikes, developd in collaboration with Honda, are specially designed for rapid deployment in congested areas where larger police vans face delays. Each bike is powered by a 350 cc engine and equipped with modern policing features such as:

Dual-tone siren and public address system

Rear domes for 360-degree visibility

Front polycarbonate windshield

High-intensity Sea Hawk lights

Side and top storage boxes

Bendable baton with an integrated light and polycarbonate lens

Speaking on the occasion, State Police Chief Vikas Sahay noted, “This initiative will not only increase the mobility of our forces but also give confidence to citizens that help is always close by.”

The new QRT fleet is designed to reach incident spots within minutes, thereby reducing response time and enabling immediate action. According to officials, these bikes will be strategically deployed in districts across Gujarat, particularly in urban centers with high traffic density and areas marked as sensitive zones.

Senior Honda executives including Vijay Dhingra (Senior Director),  Prabhu Nagaraj (Operating Officer), and Rajiv Taneja (CSR Head) were also present at the ceremony, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting law enforcement with innovative mobility solutions.

Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department M.K. Das emphasized that the collaboration demonstrates how technology and mobility can together enhance citizen safety.
