MUMBAI : Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi joined thousands of devotees at the Paryushan Mahaparva celebrations in Mumbai, seeking the blessings of Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshji and lending his support to a global humanitarian initiative aimed at bringing dignity and joy to underserved communities.
Sanghavi attended the celebrations organised by Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (SRMD) on September 13 and officially flagged off the ‘Power of One’ initiative for 2026.
Inspired by Gurudevshri Rakeshji’s vision of compassionate action, the initiative encourages people to declutter with purpose and donate clothes, foodgrains, utensils, footwear, toys and other essential items to people in need. Since its launch in 2019, more than 5 million items have reportedly been distributed through the programme.
“It is my good fortune to have received the opportunity to be in the satsang of Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshji several times,” Sanghavi said, highlighting the spiritual and social work undertaken by SRMD.
He added that Gurudevshri had inspired thousands of young people to embrace spirituality “with joy and purpose” and praised Dharampur as a centre of humanitarian service.
“As we celebrate Pujya Gurudevshri’s 60th birth anniversary, I would like to dedicate time to seva with Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur as a humble expression of gratitude,” Sanghavi said.
The occasion also saw the announcement of global celebrations marking Gurudevshri Rakeshji’s 60th birth anniversary under the theme ‘Aho Gurudev – 60 Years of an Enlightened Existence’. The celebrations will be held at Mumbai’s Jio Convention Centre on September 25 and 26.
The eight-day Paryushan Mahaparva brought together devotees and seekers from India and abroad. Through discourses, meditation, devotional programmes and seva activities, the celebrations presented Paryushan as an opportunity for introspection and inner transformation rather than merely a festival of fasting and forgiveness.
Among the programmes were Snatra Pujas, devotional evenings, sound-bath meditation, youth programmes, children’s performances, celebrations of Bhagwan Mahavir’s birth and devotional music.
The Power of One initiative added a strong humanitarian dimension, urging individuals to turn personal abundance into meaningful service for those in need.
