Surat: AS the Gujarat State assembly elections are nearing, political parties and the leaders leave no stone unturned to remain in the limelight. But, sometimes the cheap publicity is enough to give nightmares to the select few.

In one such incident, Gujarat’s Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Kishore Kanani alias Kumar Kanani was trolled heavily on social media by the aware citizens of the diamond city, when he posted a letter written to the Surat’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic cell). In the letter, Kanani advised the city traffic police to collect the fine amount from only those who are not wearing facemasks and stop harassing the commuters.

Gujarat’s Minister of Health and Family welfare, Kumar Kanani trolled by users on social media for his attempt to garner cheap publicity.

Kanani was referring to the people from Varachha and Katargam, delivering hand-embroidered sarees on their motorcycle to the textile markets at Ring Road. In his letter, Kanani stated that the traffic cops are harassing the deliverymen supplying embroidered sarees to the textile markets, under various sections of the Motor Vehicle Act. This is although these deliverymen are wearing facemasks and follow the Covid-19 rules.

Kanani chose to post the letter written to the DCP (traffic cell) on his social media accounts including Facebook and Twitter where he invited the wrath of the general public. People on social media trolled Kanani saying that he posted the letter to garner the support of the people in his assembly constituency because the assembly elections are nearing.
