Gandhinagar : The Gujarat government will celebrate the 78th Independence Day from August 8 to August 15 across the state, as announced by the Minister of Sports and Youth Services,  Harsh Sanghavi, during a press conference in Gandhinagar.

Minister  Sanghavi provided further details, stating that under this campaign, a grand Tiranga Yatra will be organized in the state’s major four cities – Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad – in the presence of Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel. The Tiranga Yatra will be held on August 10 in Rajkot, August 11 in Surat, August 12 in Vadodara, and August 13 in Ahmedabad. In addition to this program, the Tiranga Yatra will be celebrated in the state’s municipal corporations, municipalities, and 14,292 village panchayats. Approximately 2,200 institutions from across the state will participate in this Yatra. Additionally, in villages, the national flag will be hoisted on top of the houses and a Tiranga Yatra will also be organized.

The minister also mentioned that the celebration will occur at 75 iconic locations across the state. Every home, shop, industrial house, government office, private office, and cart will display the national flag as part of this celebration. All departments and district administration will also be involved in this celebration. The education department will organize fancy dress, painting, and rangoli competitions with a patriotic theme in the state’s educational institutions. Winners of these competitions will be honored with awards. The education department will also provide students with more understanding about independence and respect for the national flag.

Minister Harsh Sanghavi stated that more than 5 million flags will be distributed in all districts of the state. The traffic police will distribute flags to citizens at various crossroads in the cities. The transport department will also distribute flags to passengers in the state’s ST buses.

The Minister added that in the four major cities, a Tiranga Yatra/Mega Parade will be held on a route of approximately 2 km. In Surat and Ahmedabad, about one lakh citizens will participate, while in Rajkot and Vadodara, 50 to  70 thousand citizens will join. The program will feature patriotic tunes played by the armed forces band, police band, school band, and other private bands. Various cultural groups in the state will perform dance and cultural programs at different locations.

The Minister further stated that approximately nine tableau will be displayed by various departments of the state government. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, the celebration this year will include various programs such as Tiranga Yatra, Tiranga Rally, Tiranga Run, Tiranga Concert, Tiranga Canvas, Tiranga Oath, Tiranga Selfie, Tiranga Sanmaan, and Tiranga Mela, inviting a large number of citizens to participate.
