Gujarat to host Pre-summit on Viksit Bharat
The summit is being organized as a lead up to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit that is taking place in January 2024 at the Mahatma Gandhi Mandir, Gandhinagar.
Gandhinagar : The Gujarat Government will organize a summit on “The Path of Innovation & Wellness for Viksit Bharat” on December 11 at the Science City in Ahmedabad.
The summit is being organized as a lead up to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit that is taking place in January 2024 at the Mahatma Gandhi Mandir, Gandhinagar.
The state government is organizing several pre-summits in a build up to the main summit. The pre-summits are being organized in the sectors such as Exports, Gems & Jewellery, Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Agriculture & Food Processing, among others.
Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel will address the event to be held on December 11. He will also inaugurate an exhibition showcasing ‘National and Gujarat-based Biotech Start-ups.’
Among those who will remain present includes union health minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Gujarat chief secretary Raj Kumar and principal secretary, department of science and technology Mona Khandhar.
The state government said that biotechnology is a key driver in contributing to India’s USD 5 trillion economy target. In the last eight years, it has risen eight times from USD 10 billion to USD 80 billion, with an increase in the number of Biotech startups from 50 to 5300, thus making it a sunrise sector.
According to Invest India data, Biopharmaceuticals is the largest segment, contributing 62 percent to the Indian Bioeconomy, followed by Bio-agriculture at 13 percent, Bio Industry at 15 percent, and BioIT & BioServices at 10 percent.
The Bio services and Industrial Biotech segments, accounting for a combined 22 percent of the industry in 2020, are expected to grow at rapid rates.
This pre-summit event aims to further this growth in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 and attract investments in this sector, making Gujarat a hub for biotechnology, the state government said.
The ‘Biotech-Summit’ will bring together approximately 350 stakeholders from the biotechnology sector, encompassing leading national and international biotech companies, industry associations, start-ups, faculties, researchers, research associates, and related companies and agencies of the biotech cluster.
Eminent Entrepreneurs from Biotech Startups, Industry Experts, and Academicians, among other participants, will be engaging in meaningful discussions through sessions on topics like ‘Growth of the Biotechnology sector in Gujarat,’ ‘Ecosystem for Advancing Bio-Innovations,’ ‘The Radar of Bharat Bio-Economy,’ ‘Exploring the Transformative Power of Deep Tech in Biotechnology,’ ‘Industry-Academia: The required symbiosis,’ ‘Research & Innovation Commercialization,’ and ‘Start-up & Research Ecosystem.’
