Amreli, Gujarat — The integrity of the Amreli police force has been severely tarnished as two serving constables face serious allegations of sexual assault in separate incidents, igniting widespread outrage and raising critical questions about the conduct of law enforcement. These disturbing cases, both involving the alleged exploitation of vulnerable individuals, have prompted swift action from authorities, who have suspended the accused officers and launched intensive manhunts.

In the first shocking incident, Ravi Rajsingh Chauhan, a constable stationed at Babra police station, stands accused of repeatedly raping a 14-year-old girl over a harrowing four-month period. According to the complaint filed at the Amreli Women’s Police Station, Chauhan allegedly used social media to lure and abduct the minor, subsequently subjecting her to sexual assault. Adding to the gravity of the accusations, he is also alleged to have threatened the victim’s mother to ensure her silence. The horrific ordeal came to light when the minor’s father formally lodged a complaint, leading to a case being registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, alongside charges of kidnapping and rape under the Indian Penal Code. Chauhan has since absconded, with police teams actively pursuing his arrest.

A second, equally disturbing case involves Mahesh Kamabhai Solanki, a police constable attached to the Amreli headquarters. Solanki is accused of preying on a 30-year-old woman from Savarkundla, contacting her via social media and luring her with false promises of marriage. Under these deceitful pretenses, he allegedly subjected her to repeated sexual assaults. The survivor bravely came forward, lodging a complaint at the Amreli City Police Station, which has resulted in the registration of a case of rape and cheating against Solanki.

Addressing the media on these grave developments, Amreli Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jayvir Gadhvi confirmed the immediate suspension of both constables. “The police force must uphold the highest standards of conduct and integrity,” Gadhvi emphasized. “We have taken swift action to suspend the accused officers and ensure they face the full force of the law.” He assured the public that intensive efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused.
