AHMEDABAD : Gujarat’s iconic Rani Ki Vav has earned international recognition after its 3D Projection Mapping Show and Heritage Lighting Project won the Gold Award in the Experiential Tech Awards – Achievement in Audio-Visual for an Event category at the 17th WOW Awards Asia 2026.
The award celebrates the innovative use of cutting-edge technology to bring alive the rich history of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Patan. Since its inauguration on March 31, 2026, the immersive audio-visual experience has drawn more than 44,209 visitors as of July 12, making it one of Gujarat’s most popular heritage attractions.
The project was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the state’s efforts to enhance cultural tourism through modern technology.
“The recognition highlights the successful integration of immersive audio-visual technology with heritage conservation, creating a unique visitor experience at one of India’s finest stepwells,” officials said.
The implementing agency received the honour after submitting the project for evaluation at the WOW Awards Asia 2026.
The award is expected to further strengthen Gujarat’s reputation as a leading heritage tourism destination by combining world-class technology with centuries-old architectural excellence, offering domestic and international tourists a memorable journey through history.
