Surat, Gujarat – In a major breakthrough, the Railway Police at Surat Railway Station seized ₹1.68 lakh worth of counterfeit currency notes from a suspect, exposing yet another fake currency racket in Gujarat. The accused, identified as Satyanarayan Taili, was nabbed during a routine patrol by the vigilant Railway Police.
According to police officials, Satyanarayan Taili was moving suspiciously through the railway station premises when officers intercepted him. Upon checking his bag, they discovered a large cache of fake currency notes in denominations of ₹500. The total value of the seized fake notes was found to be ₹1.68 lakh.
“The man’s behavior raised doubts, and on searching his belongings, we found neatly bundled counterfeit notes. His arrest is a result of our team’s alertness and routine checks,” said a senior Railway Police officer.
Taili was immediately taken into custody, and a case was registered against him. Police have launched a thorough investigation to uncover the source of the fake currency and the extent of the network involved. They are probing whether the racket operates locally or has links to interstate or international syndicates.
“The accused is being interrogated to identify the origin of the counterfeit notes and his intended destination. We are also examining if more people are involved in circulating such fake currency in Gujarat,” the officer added.
The seizure has sent shockwaves among security agencies, especially as Gujarat has witnessed a series of counterfeit currency incidents in recent months.
A senior official involved in the case stated, “We’re taking this very seriously. Such rackets not only harm the economy but also pose a serious national security threat. All leads will be pursued aggressively.”
