Gujarat : Rahul Gandhi To Attend Congress training camp in Junagadh

Junagadh | Gujarat —  Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has set the tone for the political battle in Gujarat by openly challenging the BJP for the 2027 Assembly elections. His call comes as the Gujarat Congress undergoes a major organizational revamp, with fresh leadership taking charge at city and district levels.

Rahul Gandhi will attend the camp on September 12 and 17 to directly guide party functionaries. Sources said the agenda includes preparing for the upcoming local self-government elections, framing strategies to expose alleged vote theft, and mobilizing support around farmers’ grievances.

The Southern Gujarat city of Junagadh has become the center of Congress’s renewed push. A four-day training camp for newly appointed city-district presidents has begun at Prernadham, running from today until September 19. Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge inaugurated the event, declaring, “The road to defeating the BJP in 2027 begins here in Gujarat. We are preparing leaders who can connect with people at the grassroots.”

Speaking on the sidelines, a senior Gujarat Congress leader said, “Rahul Gandhi’s message is clear—this fight is not just organizational but ideological. Congress must stand with farmers, workers, and youth if it wants to reclaim Gujarat.”

The move comes amid the growing influence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Saurashtra. After AAP’s victory in Visavadar, leader Gopal Italia has been aggressively championing farmers’ causes. Pravin Ram’s “Ghed Bachao Padyatra” has also amplified agrarian concerns, while Arvind Kejriwal recently attempted to hold a farmers’ rally in Chotila before it was disrupted by rain.

Analysts note that Congress’s decision to hold a high-profile camp in Junagadh reflects an effort to consolidate Saurashtra, a region critical to Gujarat politics. The Patidar and farmer vote base, which both AAP and BJP are eyeing, could prove decisive.
