Gujarat : Porbandar Police Recover Narcotics on Navi Bandar Seashore
Over the previous week, narcotics worth ₹66 crores were discovered on the beaches of Abdasa, Lakhpat, and Mandvi in the Kutch, Gujarat
PORBANDAR : The Porbandar police found packages of narcotics from the Navi Bandar coastline, triggering the filing of a case against unnamed individuals. This huge discovery has spurred an investigation into the origins of the smuggling enterprise and the perpetrators involved.
The discovery is part of an alarming trend of narcotics smuggling along Gujarat’s coast. Over the previous week, narcotics worth ₹66 crores were discovered on the beaches of Abdasa, Lakhpat, and Mandvi in the Kutch, Gujarat. Most recently, on Saturday, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Jakhou Marine Police recovered ten packets of narcotics on Luna Bet Beach.
On March 12, 2024, a joint operation by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Coast Guard, and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) resulted in a significant bust off the coast of Porbandar. Six Pakistanis were detained, and 70-80 packets of narcotics worth ₹480 crores were recovered from their vessel, situated 350 miles from Porbandar.
The problem of drug smuggling is not limited to Porbandar. On March 7, 2024, drugs valued at ₹350 crores were captured at Veraval port in Gir Somnath. The interrogation of an accused guy, Dharmendra Kashyap, yielded important information concerning the smuggling network. Yarbab, a mafia kingpin, organized the loading of the cocaine at an Omani port. The shipment was meant to be smuggled into Rajkot, with an Iranian named Murtaza managing the journey from Iran via Oman and finally to Rajkot.
The latest recovery by Porbandar police has stepped its efforts to destroy smuggling networks along Gujarat’s coast. The police, in coordination with national authorities, are tracing the supply chain and apprehending the masterminds of these operations.
In reaction to these attacks, security precautions along Gujarat’s coastline have been increased. The combined actions of the BSF, Marine Police, Gujarat ATS, and NCB are aimed at deterring future smuggling attempts and maintaining regional security.
