Ahmedabad | Gujarat — Panic gripped Gujarat on Friday after a series of coordinated bomb threat emails targeted passport offices and post offices across multiple cities, forcing evacuations and triggering massive security drills. After schools, universities and courts were earlier targeted, unscrupulous elements have now set their sights on key public service institutions, putting the entire state administration on high alert.

The most alarming threat was received at the Passport Seva Kendra in the Piplod area of Surat. The email warned of an explosion, prompting immediate evacuation of the premises. Teams from Umra police station, bomb disposal squads and dog squads rushed to the spot and conducted an intensive search operation.

“We are not taking any chances. Every threat is being treated as real until proven otherwise,” a senior police officer in Surat said. “The building was thoroughly checked. No suspicious object has been found so far, but the investigation into the source of the email is underway.”

Similar threats were reported from head post offices in Bhavnagar, Amreli, Navsari and Valsad. Officials confirmed that nearly identical emails were sent to post office superintendents across the state, suggesting a coordinated attempt to spread fear.

At the India Post Head Post Office in Valsad, police evacuated staff and visitors before carrying out a detailed search. “Public safety is our top priority. We immediately cleared the building and deployed bomb detection teams,” a Valsad police official stated.

In the Nag Talawadi area of Navsari, bomb disposal and dog squads combed through the post office premises while senior police officers supervised the operation. The fire department was kept on standby as a precautionary measure.

A similar scare unfolded at the Passport Seva Kendra operating from the main post office in Godhra. After receiving the threat email from an unidentified sender, local police, Special Operations Group (SOG) teams and sniffer dogs conducted an extensive inspection. Authorities later confirmed that no explosive material was found.

Chaos was also reported at the main post office on Visnagar Road in Mehsana, where the premises were evacuated immediately after the email surfaced.

A senior official involved in the statewide response said, “The pattern of the emails indicates a deliberate attempt to create panic across Gujarat. Cybercrime teams are tracing the IP addresses and digital footprints of the sender. Strict action will follow.”

While all searches so far have yielded negative results, the coordinated nature of the Gujarat bomb threat emails has raised serious concerns within the state security apparatus. Police have urged citizens not to panic or spread rumours, emphasizing that robust security measures are in place.

The investigation is ongoing, with cyber experts working round the clock to identify and apprehend those responsible for what officials describe as a calculated attempt to destabilize public confidence.
