RAJPIPLA, GUJARAT : A pall of grief hangs over Kishnapark Society in Surat after a picnic trip to the Narmada river near Poicha village in Rajpipla turned into a devastating tragedy. Eight people, including six teenagers, were swept away by strong currents on Tuesday, with rescue teams recovering the body of 15-year-old Bhavesh Vallabhbhai Hadiya four kilometers downstream on Wednesday morning.

The search continues relentlessly for the remaining six individuals still missing.

Three families from Kishnapark Society, located in Sania Hemad village on Kadodara Road, embarked on the fateful trip. Bhavesh, who had recently secured an impressive 87% in his 10th board exams and secured admission in 11th science, was among those who met an untimely demise.

News of the incident sent shockwaves through the Ahir community residing in Kishnapark Society. Local authorities, including the NDRF, fire teams from Vadodara, and skilled sailors, have joined forces in the search operation. Despite a tireless 24-hour effort, the search was called off at 9 pm Tuesday. Renewed hope emerged on Wednesday morning as search teams resumed their efforts, leading to the recovery of Bhavesh’s body.

With each passing hour, anxieties mount for the families of the six missing individuals. The excruciating wait has taken an emotional toll, leaving them desperate for any sign of their loved ones.

Sources reveal that the families had planned this visit to the Poicha village for a holy dip in the Narmada river’s triveni sangam, a confluence considered sacred, following the completion of a Bhagwad Katha.
