Mehsana, Gujarat – In a dramatic turn of events, a routine board meeting at Dudhsagar Dairy headquarters in Mehsana descended into chaos on Thursday, after Vice Chairman Yogesh Patel accused Chairman Ashok Chaudhary and Director Dilip Chaudhary of physically assaulting him for raising questions over the dairy’s actual debt burden.

“All I did was ask about the dairy’s debt figures—what followed was shameful. I was slapped, beaten, my glasses were broken, and even my gold chain was snatched,” Patel said with tears in his eyes while speaking to the media outside the B Division Police Station, where he lodged a formal complaint.

The shocking allegations have rocked Gujarat’s powerful cooperative sector, especially given the stature of Dudhsagar Dairy—one of the state’s largest milk cooperatives—and the high political stakes involved in an election year.

Debt Discrepancy Sparked Tension

According to Patel, the official report in Sagar Patrika cited the dairy’s debt at ₹790 crore. However, he claims the actual figure is a staggering ₹1,790 crore, and that his attempt to question the discrepancy during the board meeting infuriated the Chairman.

“They didn’t want the truth out. The Chairman threatened me not to enter the dairy again. This isn’t just a fight—this is intimidation and abuse of power,” Patel said, also alleging that he had been threatened multiple times over the past six months.

Political Undertones: BJP and Patidar Identity

An emotional Patel stated, “I am a BJP karyakarta and a son of the Patidar community. I kept my composure because I did not want to tarnish the image of my party. But if needed, I too can fight back.”

This episode has put the ruling BJP in a delicate position, with infighting and power struggles within key cooperative institutions now out in the open.

Chairman Denies Assault, Blames Patel for Disruption

In his defense, Chairman Ashok Chaudhary flatly denied the allegations, calling them politically motivated.

“Patel came into the meeting intending to create trouble. He used foul language, refused to listen, and stormed out. No one raised a hand on him. Ask the other board members,” Chaudhary told reporters.

He also hinted at a deliberate attempt to disrupt the cooperative in an election year, saying, “He told others he came to fight. This was pre-planned. We tried to calm him, but he left on his own.”

Police Launch Investigation

The Mehsana B Division Police have registered Patel’s complaint and confirmed that an investigation is underway. With viral videos, growing political attention, and conflicting narratives, the matter is expected to escalate further in the coming days.

As one cooperative member said, “When milk turns into mudslinging, it’s the farmers and members who suffer the most.”
