The audacious crime, stemming from a deeply personal dispute involving a suspected romantic relationship, saw a man forcibly abducted and savagely beaten, sending ripples of concern through the local community.

The incident, reported on May 31, 2025, unfolded near the crematorium road behind Moje Thakor Vasna in Sanand. According to the police complaint, the victim was forcibly taken around 3 PM by Jayesh Kalubhai Thakor of Nidhrad village and three unidentified accomplices. “It was a scene straight out of a movie, but terrifyingly real,” stated a local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, expressing shock at the daylight abduction. “People are worried when such things happen so openly.”

The arrested individuals have been identified as Lakshmanbhai Kanubhai Chhanaji Thakor (42), Jayesh Bharatbhai alias Kalubhai Dabhi (27), Ranchodbhai Ambalal Thakor (29), Jagdishbhai Babaji Vaghela (32), and Vikrambhai Dhanshyambhai Vaghela (35).

Police investigations revealed that the accused were allegedly enraged by the victim’s relationship with the daughter of one of the assailants. Driving a white Swift car, the group cornered the complainant at a three-road junction near Eklingji and dragged him into the vehicle. The victim was then reportedly driven to the crematorium in Nidhrad village, where the brutal assault took place. He was allegedly subjected to abuse, beaten mercilessly with a brick and an iron pipe, and assaulted with sticks, sustaining serious injuries. The assailants also delivered chilling death threats during the ordeal.

“Such acts of violence, especially stemming from personal vendettas, are unacceptable,” stated a Sanand Police official involved in the investigation. “We acted immediately based on the gravity of the offense. Our priority was to ensure the victim’s safety and bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly.”
