Gandhinagar :  In a dramatic turn of events, 303 Indian passengers, stranded in France for days after their flight to Nicaragua was grounded over alleged human trafficking, finally returned home Tuesday morning. The incident has sent shockwaves through Gujarat, with 22 passengers hailing from the state, prompting the formation of four special CID teams to investigate the illegal migration racket.

“We have received a list of 22 persons who were on board Legend Airlines flight,” stated Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kharant of the CID (Crime). “We’ve spoken to families and are actively gathering information about the agents who facilitated this plan, especially since the recent tragic incident of the Gujarati family at the US border.”

Kharant further revealed that the passengers hail from various districts of Gujarat, including Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Banaskantha, Patan, and Anand. The four CID teams will be tasked with questioning the passengers and extracting details about the agents involved in this illegal immigration scheme.

The ordeal began last Thursday when the French government, acting on a tip-off, halted the Legend Airlines flight bound for Nicaragua. Subsequent investigations led to the release of 276 passengers, while 25 individuals, including two minors, sought asylum in France. Two suspects were arrested, and sources claim they have become approvers in the case.

Despite attempts, families of the passengers have remained tight-lipped, refusing to speak to the media. Even village representatives have avoided answering questions, raising concerns about potential intimidation or fear within the affected communities.

The incident highlights the dangers of illegal immigration and the exploitative practices of human trafficking rings. With Gujarat on high alert, the CID teams face the critical task of dismantling this network and ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals seeking better opportunities abroad.
