Ahmedabad : After the DGFT officer committed suicide in Rajkot following CBI raids on his office, the country’s premier investigation agency is back in the spotlight as its own inspector Sandeep Kumar, who was allegedly trapped by ACB unit -1, allegedly accepting bribe, fled the scene of the trap in front of senior CBI officers who were present on the spot.

It is believed that the CBI enlisted the assistance of local police in the laying and subsequent arrest of trapping senior inspector Sandeep Kumar. Gujarat Police issued an alert across districts to apprehend the CBI officer.

Top police sources confirmed that a message was flashed on Saturday that Inspector Sandeep Kumar, Inspector, CBI, ACB, Gandhinagar, was caught red handed taking bribe. He escaped from custody in a car with the registration number DL9C BA 5486. (Tata Nexon Atlas Black Color). The message includes a photograph of the inspector.

According to sources, they have directed all station House Officers, Netrams, checkpoints, and field teams to intercept the accused officer.

According to sources, a special ACB team travelled from Delhi to Gandhinagar based on intelligence. The team enlisted the assistance of local police to set up a trap.

“Sandeep Kumar was caught accepting bribes and was in the custody of the CBI when he abruptly rushed out of his office.” He started his Tata Nexon Atlas Black Color Car and fled the scene. CBI teams are searching for an absconding CBI officer who is a Haryana native and was assigned to the CBI’s Gandhinagar Branch. “The officer has been declared an absconder,” said a senior CBI official.

It is worth noting that this comes at a time when the CBI is already under scrutiny following the suicide of DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) officer Jawri Mal Bishnoi, who was deployed as Joint Director of DGFT. After being trapped accepting a Rs 5 lakh bribe, the deceased committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of his office.
