Ahmedabad | Gujarat — Ahmedabad has once again been shaken by a disturbing incident of extreme violence involving school students, raising serious questions about safety, supervision, and rising aggression among minors. In a chilling repeat of the Seventh Day School tragedy, a Class 10 student was attacked with a knife and brutally beaten by a group of students just 100 metres outside the National School in the Ghatlodia area.

The incident, which took place in broad daylight, left three students injured. One of them sustained serious wounds and was rushed for medical treatment. The attack was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, and the visuals are deeply unsettling — a group of students can be seen assaulting a student with sticks and belts, dragging him and raining blows in what police described as a “gang-style brawl.”

Shockingly, the attackers and victims are all Class 10 students.

Police sources said the assault stemmed from an old rivalry that escalated into violence after a heated argument outside the school gate. Ghatlodia police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and have registered a complaint in the matter.

ACP Jayesh Brahmabhatt said,“We received information about students fighting near the National School. On reaching the spot, it was found that there was a serious fight outside the school gate. A general brawl broke out due to past enmity. Further investigation is underway.”

According to the police, four of the accused students study in the same school, while others — including the brother of one student — joined the attack. In total, 8 to 10 individuals were involved. The victim alleged that he was attacked with a pipe, stick and paddle, and police are investigating whether a knife was also used during the assault.

“The process of rounding up the attackers has begun. Strict action will be taken within the ambit of the law,” the police said.

The incident has drawn inevitable comparisons with the tragic case of Nayan, a Class 10 student of Seventh Day School in Khokhra, who was murdered by a fellow student using a box cutter on August 19, 2025. CCTV footage later showed the injured boy walking back into the school clutching his stomach — a haunting image that sparked statewide outrage.

Reacting to the Ghatlodia incident, National School Trustee Ramesh Amin clarified,“This incident occurred about 100 metres away from the school and involved an internal dispute among students. Some outsiders joined the fight. The injured student from our school was treated at our expense and sent home with his guardian.”
