Ahmedabad | Gujarat — Panic gripped Ahmedabad on Monday after multiple reputed schools, including the well-known Delhi Public School (DPS), received bomb threat emails warning of explosions and invoking extremist slogans. The threatening message stated, “Modi-Shah are enemies of Khalistan. Save your children,” and chillingly added that schools would be blown up if the national tricolour was hoisted on January 26.

The threats triggered an immediate, large-scale security response across the city. Police teams, fire brigade units and bomb detection dog squads were rushed to the affected campuses to conduct thorough checks. Parents, alarmed by messages circulating rapidly on social media and school communication channels, reached schools in large numbers to pick up their children.

At Sant Kabir High School in Navrangpura, scenes of anxiety unfolded as parents queued outside the gates. According to school sources, three branches of Sant Kabir School received the threatening emails. “We are cooperating fully with the police. Parents who wish to take their children home are being allowed to do so,” a school official said.

A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “All threat emails are being treated with utmost seriousness. Bomb squads and dog units are carrying out detailed searches. So far, no suspicious object has been found, but investigations are ongoing.” Cyber crime teams have also been roped in to trace the origin of the emails and identify whether the threats are linked to earlier hoax messages.

The incident is particularly sensitive as some of the targeted schools fall within Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Lok Sabha constituency, adding to the gravity of the situation. Notably, this is not the first time schools in the region have faced such threats. Just a month ago, 26 schools across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Kalol, including Zydus, Zebar, Agrasen and DAV International School, received similar bomb threat emails. After extensive searches, those threats were later declared hoaxes.

Meanwhile, the District Education Officer (DEO) office stated it was not formally informed about the latest threats and said it was still gathering details. The lack of immediate coordination has raised concerns among parents regarding emergency communication protocols.

Police have appealed to citizens not to panic and to rely only on official information. “Strict action will be taken against those spreading fear. We urge parents and schools to remain calm and cooperate,” an officer said.
