Gandhinagar hosted ‘EDGE 2024’, the showcase for the graduating batch of the Bachelors & Masters programmes in the Department of Fashion & Lifestyle at Unitedworld Institute of Design on Saturday.

The fashion show, EDGE 2024, defied conventional norms with its diverse array of themes and designs, spanning from traditional Indian lehengas to urban street styles to ethereal gowns and avant-garde pieces. The event commenced with a day-long exhibition of students’ works followed by the spectacular EDGE ‘24 fashion show in the evening, where graduating students unveiled their collections. The evening marked a significant milestone in both academic and design careers for the 81 graduates and faculty alike.

Graduating Students of UID showcase at ‘EDGE 2024’

The outstanding efforts and creativity of students were celebrated through design awards presented by the esteemed guests: Dr. Bhanwar Rathore- Founder & Director of BRDS, Mr. Aamir Akhtar- Group President & CEO of Jindal Worldwide Ltd., Ms. Rachita Parekh- designer of label Dyelogue & Mr. Anuraag K- designer of label Anuraag K. for the B. Design (Fashion Design) programme, the winners included Pooja Sambare for Best Design Collection, Shambhavi Khare for Best Engagement of Innovation & Technology, Amitha Jacob for Most Responsible Collection, Riya Chauhan for Best Styled Collection & Sana Sheikh for Most Commercial Collection. The awards for the M. Design (Fashion Design) programme included Ishika Agarwal for Best Design Collection & Khushbu Kewat for Most Commercial Collection.

On the occasion, Shri Ritesh Hada, President, Karnavati University, said, “The realm of fashion is ever evolving and flexible, extending education beyond classroom confines, thereby infusing it with greater challenge and excitement. At UID, our ethos centers on fostering innovation, blending established practices with emerging trends to generate ground breaking ensembles. The Department of Fashion & Lifestyle offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs tailored to meet the dynamic demands of the fashion industry, supported by seasoned faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, industry ties and global partnerships, all aimed at nurturing the development of innovative, ethical, and socially responsible solutions.”

Col. Surojit Bose, Head of Institution, UID, congratulated the students and said, “As you embark upon & progress through your careers, you all will have the opportunity to enrich the lives of those around you. I urge each one of you to use innovation & creativity to serve our communities and improve the quality of life of its members with compassion, honesty & integrity.”

UID, established in 2012, is fast emerging as one of India’s most sought after design schools. Situated within the sprawling 40-acre campus of Karnavati University in Gandhinagar, we strive to cultivate internationally acclaimed professionals in the realms of art and design. Notable international collaborations include Nottingham Trent University (UK), Domus Academy (Milan), NABA (Milan), Polimoda (Florence), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), Köln International School of Design (Germany), De Montfort University (UK), University for the Creative Arts (UK) and various other renowned organizations like the International Federation of Fashion Technology Institutes, Cumulus Association and World Design Organization.
