Ahmedabad | Gujarat —  GHCL Foundation, the CSR arm of India’s leading soda ash manufacturer GHCL, has empowered over 5,500 youth across rural Gujarat through its Vocational Training Institutes (VTIs), providing industry-ready skills and facilitating employment opportunities. Notably, 65% of the enrolled students are girls, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to women’s empowerment and equal opportunity.

Since the launch of its first VTI in Jafrabad, Amreli district, in 2016, GHCL Foundation has expanded its presence to Sutrapada (Gir Somnath), Port Victor (Amreli), Gadu (Junagadh), Talala (Gir Somnath), Mota Layja (Kutch), Kaj (Junagadh), and Prachi (Gir Somnath). These institutes operate in partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and actively support the Government of India’s Skill India Mission.

GHCL Foundation’s VTIs follow a 360° training framework, offering holistic development by combining technical expertise, industry readiness, and personal growth, ensuring students are fully equipped for long-term employability. Students receive hands-on training in sectors such as BPO, electrical assistance, nursing, sewing, and fitting & fabrication.

Students trained at GHCL Foundation’s VTIs have secured placements in leading organizations including Adani Group, Arvind Mills, Hyundai Motors India Limited, BKT Tyres, and Aayush Hospitals. They earn average monthly salaries ranging from Rs 9,500 to Rs 16,500, with most retaining their positions long-term.

NN Radia, Chairman of GHCL Foundation, said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, GHCL is committed to community development in the areas where we operate. Our VTIs are founded on the belief that skills are the strongest currency for youth empowerment. By creating industry-ready talent, we are enhancing livelihoods while contributing to India’s skilled workforce. The successful placement of our students demonstrates the power of sustained commitment and strong community partnerships.”

Courses in BPO, electrical assistance, and nursing have witnessed the highest placement rates, reflecting the programme’s alignment with market demand and its role in creating sustainable career pathways for rural youth.

The success of GHCL Foundation’s VTIs is strengthened by collaborations with over 350 companies and hospitals, including Welspun, Just Dial, Sky Textiles, Adani Solar, German Calibration Lab, Varmora Tiles, Balaji Wafers, Hyundai, Harshal Engineering, BKT, and Shaktiman. These partnerships ensure curriculam remain relevant, equipping students with the skills most sought after by employers.

GHCL Foundation continues to expand its vocational training initiatives across Gujarat, enabling youth, especially young women, to secure dignified employment and fostering inclusive growth in the communities it serves.
