The Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project has been advancing steadily, with significant construction underway at various sites. One such location is near Rajpura in Vasad, Anand district, where work on the Mahisagar Bridge was ongoing. As part of the project, labourers were installing iron gutters when a section of the bridge’s concrete material collapsed, causing stones and debris to fall on the workers below. Four labourers were trapped, and emergency teams swiftly responded to the site.

Anand District Superintendent of Police G. G. Jasani said that the Bullet Train project is underway at Vasad in Anand district. The officials of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project reached the spot after receiving information that three to four people were crushed after the bridge’s concrete material collapsed. Rescue operation was immediately carried out and two trapped people were rescued with serious injuries. However,  two more people are still suspected to be trapped. After removing all the debris, it will be known how many people are buried in the debris. Rescue is currently being done by the teams and the details of how the incident happened will come out after the investigation.

Fire officer Dharmesh Gore stated that they arrived at the scene soon after receiving the call. There were large concrete girders that had collapsed and crushed on the ground, so a crane and JCB were sent in. During the rescue effort, the first two victims were recovered and sent for medical treatment. However, one died on the way to the hospital, and the other was in critical condition. We recovered two dead bodies from the rubble. As a result, three out of every four workers died. According to the building company, just four workers were present on the construction site when the event occurred. However, the process of clearing debris is still ongoing. If anyone remains inside, they will be rescued.

Official sources said that two of the laborers rescued from beneath the debris  could not be saved and were pronounced dead. Another worker was rescued and transported to the hospital, where he is receiving treatment. However, one laborer remains unaccounted for, and search efforts are ongoing as teams clear the debris.

Upon receiving news of the accident, senior officials, including District Superintendent of Police G.G. Jasani and Deputy Superintendent of Police J.N. Panchal, arrived on the scene. The rescue operation was a coordinated effort, involving local police, Anand Fire Brigade, two cranes, and a JCB to carefully remove the rubble. Bullet train project officials were also present to oversee the situation and aid in the rescue efforts.
