Fake Rudrax TMT Bars Rock Gujarat: Multi-Lakh Scam Unearthed

The investigation intensified following Nagar's petition to the CID Crime for action against the individuals violating copyright law. Accompanied by officials, Nagar visited the Ajay Steel factory to ascertain the legitimacy of "Rudraksh TMT." Rajkot, Gujarat –  A brazen criminal enterprise involving the illicit replication and sale of “Rudrax TMT” iron bars has sent shockwaves through Gujarat’s construction sector. Authorities have busted a sophisticated operation, seizing property valued at a significant ₹2.30 lakh and initiating a deeper probe into the scam that has defrauded consumers and undermined a reputable brand. The shocking discovery highlights the pervasive threat of counterfeit products, particularly in critical infrastructure materials.

The elaborate scheme came to light after Aditya Amrish Nagar, Head of Media and Advertising at Rudra Global Info Pros Limited in Bhavnagar, filed a complaint with the Rajkot Zone CID Crime. “We found our ‘Rudrax TMT’ bars were being brazenly copied and sold under a similar name, ‘Rudraksh TMT’,” stated Nagar, expressing profound concern over the brand infringement and potential safety risks. “This is a direct violation of the Copyright Act and a serious breach of trust.”

The complaint names Kanayalal Tulsidas Patel, a resident of Sola, Ahmedabad, and Yaminbhai Mohammedbhai Ganja, from Kumbharwada Main Road, Canal Road, as the alleged perpetrators. According to the CID Crime Gandhinagar office, the duo is accused of manufacturing and distributing these counterfeit bars from Ajay Steel Factory in Jalida village, Wankaner taluka.

The investigation intensified following Nagar’s petition to the CID Crime for action against the individuals violating copyright law. Accompanied by officials, Nagar visited the Ajay Steel factory to ascertain the legitimacy of “Rudrax TMT.” The factory owner admitted to possessing a trademark for “Rudrax TMT” but crucially confirmed they had no copyright registration. This critical admission paved the way for the police to act.

Upon inspecting the factory, law enforcement officials discovered a substantial quantity of iron rods bearing wrappers identical to the “Rudrax TMT” brand. The findings solidified the case against the accused, leading to immediate action.

“This is not just about financial loss to a company; it’s about the safety and integrity of construction projects,” emphasized a senior CID Crime official closely involved in the investigation, who preferred to remain anonymous due to the ongoing nature of the probe. “Substandard materials can have catastrophic consequences.”

The police have since registered a case under the Copyright Act, seizing assets worth ₹2.30 lakh from the factory premises.
