Fake ISRO Scientist Arrested by Surat Crime Branch for Fraudulent Claims
Trivedi's arrest came on Tuesday, following the circulation of an audio clip in which he allegedly conversed with his former teacher, boasting of his supposed involvement in ISRO's achievements.
Surat: The Surat Crime Branch has apprehended Mitul Trivedi, who had audaciously declared himself as the mastermind behind the design of Chandrayaan-3 and the Vikram Lander, posing as a senior scientist at ISRO. Trivedi’s arrest came on Tuesday, following the circulation of an audio clip in which he allegedly conversed with his former teacher, boasting of his supposed involvement in ISRO’s achievements.
The viral audio clip emerged shortly after the triumphant Chandrayaan-3 mission executed by ISRO, leading to widespread skepticism and scrutiny. The audacity of Trivedi’s claims prompted an investigation by the Surat Crime Branch, which culminated in his arrest.
Mitul Trivedi was subjected to questioning by the crime branch late into the night, followed by extensive cross-verification processes that spanned over five hours the subsequent day. The documents provided by Trivedi to substantiate his claims were also sent to ISRO’s headquarters in Bangalore for thorough examination and verification.
Unfortunately for Trivedi, the veracity of his claims crumbled under scrutiny as ISRO officials found no evidence to support his assertions. The lack of any substantial proof, coupled with the audacity of his claims, led to the police making the decision to place him under arrest.
Following his arrest, Trivedi was escorted to the police commissioner’s office, where he was formally processed for his alleged fraudulent activities. The case has ignited discussions about the prevalence of false claims and the need for stringent verification processes in the realm of scientific achievements.
