Dy.DDO of Surat under scanner for beacon light usage on government vehicle
Deputy District Development Officer (Dy.DDO) Piyush C. Patel of Surat district panchayat is illegally using beacon light on his government vehicle
Surat : Darshan Naik, the general secretary of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), has raised concerns over the unauthorized use of red-blue beacon light on a government vehicle allotted to Deputy District Development Officer (Dy.DDO) Piyush C. Patel of Surat district panchayat. Naik has called for a thorough investigation and penal action against Patel for this violation.
In a letter addressed to the principal secretary of the general administration department in Gandhinagar and the Development Commissioner of Gujarat, Naik expressed his strong disapproval of Patel’s illegal use of red-blue flasher lights on the government vehicle. He urged the authorities to take stricter legal action against Patel, emphasizing the need to uphold the rules and regulations governing the use of such lights.
The Union Ministry of Transport has issued clear guidelines specifying the types of beacon flasher lights that can be used by high-ranking government officials, including IAS and IPS officers. These guidelines ensure that the use of flasher lights is restricted to authorized personnel and vehicles for specific purposes. It is expected that all government officials adhere to these guidelines.
However, Piyush C. Patel has allegedly been using the red-blue beacon lights on his government vehicle with registration number GJ-05.GV-1589, despite not having the necessary authorization. This unauthorized use of flasher lights raises concerns about the misuse of privileges and a violation of established protocols.
Naik’s demand for a thorough investigation and penal action against Patel highlights the need for accountability and adherence to regulations within the government administration. Such violations undermine the credibility and integrity of the public service and must be addressed promptly.
The use of flasher lights on government vehicles is a matter of public safety and security. Their misuse can lead to confusion on the roads and compromise the effectiveness of emergency response systems. It is essential that all government officials strictly follow the prescribed guidelines to maintain order and ensure the smooth functioning of public services.
The letter from Darshan Naik serves as a reminder to government authorities to uphold the law and take necessary action against any violations. It also emphasizes the importance of public representatives and political leaders in holding accountable those who misuse their authority.
