New Delhi : Chidiakhana, the third film by acclaimed filmmaker Manish Tiwary after Dil Dosti Etc and Issaq, is scheduled for release on June 2. The movie is being distributed by Shiladitya Bora’s Platoon One, and it was produced by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and presented by Bharati Studios.

A coming-of-age tale of Ritwik Sahore, a Bihari child who, thanks to his tenacity, creativity, and—most of all—his football talents, wins the hearts of the people of a Maharashtrian chawl. The video brilliantly illustrates the concept that we all have a tiger deep inside ourselves.

“Chidiakhana tells the tale of an outsider who uses his love of football to rise to prominence, transforming not only himself but also his friends, his school, and even his foes into allies along the way. According to Manish Tiwary, “Chidiakhana is a tale of team spirit and togetherness, and how small drops, when combined, can become the ocean.”

Casting is an issue that really resonates with Manish Tiwary. “Ritvik Sahore’s innocence made him a natural choice to play the major role of Sooraj. Sooraj’s newfound interest, Avneet Kaur, is a breath of fresh air. Rajeshwari Sachdev is effective as the desperate mom who gives up all to protect her kid. The Gunda with the purest of motives is Prashant Narayanan. Incredible conviction is brought to their roles by Ravi Kishan, Govind Namdev, and Aanjjan Srivastava. All of the football players have unique personalities and skill sets. According to Manish Tiwary, “this is Chidiakhana through the protagonist’s eyes.”

Interestingly, Manish Tiwary, who hails from Bihar, was educated at Cambridge University, UK, and Yale University, USA.

The film sees Sooraj hailing from Bihar and coming to Mumbai and finding his foothold in the labyrinth of this city.

Shiladitya Bora of Platoon One is happy to distribute the film. Says he, “Being an avid fan of Dil Dosti etc, I was very happy and proud to get associated with the distribution of the NFDC film.

It has strong performances coming from both young and seasoned actors such as Ritvik Sahore, Avneet Kaur, Prashant Narayanan, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Govind Namdev and Ravi Kishan.

You feel a passion for the game of football coming through in Chidiakhana, a classic underdog story. You come out rooting for the entire team that made this beautiful film possible.“

Chidiakhana is releasing in theatres on June 2.
