AHMEDABAD, GUJARAT : Residents of Ahmedabad rejoice! Akasa Airlines is set to launch the first-ever direct flight service between Ahmedabad and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, starting July 20th, 2024. This exciting development will provide a convenient and time-saving option for travelers between Gujarat and the Middle East.

“This is fantastic news for people in Ahmedabad who have family or business ties in Saudi Arabia,” said a local travel agent, expressing the positive sentiment among residents. “Previously, travelers had to connect through other cities which added significant time and cost to the journey.”

Akasa will operate the Ahmedabad-Jeddah route twice a week using a Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The outbound flight will depart Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 5:40 pm, arriving in Jeddah at 8:30 pm. The return flight will leave Jeddah at 9:30 pm, reaching Ahmedabad at 4:55 am (+1). Interestingly, reservations for this route are already open on Akasa Air’s website, despite the lack of an official announcement.

This new route comes on the heels of Akasa’s upcoming launch of daily Mumbai-Jeddah flights beginning July 15th, 2024. The airline will offer a second Mumbai-Jeddah flight five days a week from July 21st, with the exception of Wednesdays and Saturdays. For those two days, Akasa will operate the Ahmedabad-Jeddah route instead of the second Mumbai flight.

With these new connections, Akasa Airlines is poised to become a major player in facilitating travel between India and Saudi Arabia. The convenient flight timings and potential for competitive fares make this a welcome development for both business travelers and those visiting for religious purposes.
