Incident Took Place Around 2:30 AM

According to police, the incident occurred around 2:30 am, when the victim, identified as Pandav Kumar, and his friend Krishan were standing on a road after attending a birthday gathering.

During this time, they were reportedly speaking with friends outside the venue when the accused officer, identified as Neeraj, allegedly approached them and an argument broke out.

Altercation Escalates Into Firing

Police said the dispute escalated after the accused objected to the group standing on the road.

During the confrontation, Neeraj allegedly opened fire from close range:

  • Pandav Kumar was hit in the chest
  • The bullet reportedly passed through him and struck Krishan, injuring him in the abdomen

Both victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where Kumar was declared dead. Krishan is currently undergoing treatment.

Allegations of Caste-Based Remarks

The victim’s family has alleged that the accused used casteist remarks during the argument before opening fire. They also claimed that Neeraj was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Family members further alleged:

“The moment he got to know we are from Bihar, he opened fire and fled.”

Police Version and Investigation

Police have registered a case against the accused, who is currently absconding. A manhunt has been launched to trace and arrest him.

Authorities said preliminary investigation indicates the altercation began over a dispute regarding standing on the road, but all angles, including allegations of caste abuse, are being probed.

Police also stated that Neeraj is a resident of Haryana’s Rohtak district and has been living alone for several years.

Family Demands Justice

The deceased’s family, who described him as the sole earning member, gathered at the police station along with locals demanding swift arrest and strict action against the accused.
