Dawoodi Bohras Celebrate 82nd Birthday of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin in Surat

Surat | Gujarat — Union Minister of Jal Shakti and Member of Parliament CR Paatil joined the Dawoodi Bohra community in celebrating the 82nd birthday of His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the leader of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community. 

The Union Minister especially came to convey his personal greetings and best wishes to His Holiness on the eve of his birthday. He was accompanied by senior government officials and dignitaries from Surat.

The celebration took place in Zampa Bazaar, a neighbourhood with deep roots in Bohra history. Situated here is the Devdi Mubarak, Syedna’s ancestral home, alongside the 200-year-old Arabic academy Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, a symbol of the community’s devotion to learning.

In his address, Minister CR Paatil commended Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin’s contributions to the collective development of the nation..

He noted that he could see love, affection and deep faith reflected in the eyes of the thousands of Dawoodi Bohras who had gathered in Surat to mark the occasion, and expressed his wish for Syedna to continue visiting the city, stating that “Surat becomes khubsurat when you visit.”

On Sunday, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin delivered a sermon at al-Masjid al-Moazzam, Surat.

Addressing the audience, Syedna acknowledged thousands of community members who traveled to Surat in pursuit of knowledge. He remarked that every individual is a lifelong learner and that one should never feel hesitant or ashamed to seek education at any stage of life.

In his sermon, His Holiness guided the community to lead a fulfiling life that leads to contentment, always being willing to help those in need and living in harmony with all members of society.

Over 70,000 community members from India and abroad came to Surat to attend Istefada Ilmiyah, the annual educational seminar of the Dawoodi Bohras, which culminates in the birthday celebrations of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin.

His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin leads over a million Dawoodi Bohras across 40 nations. His initiatives promote harmony, sustainable development, and service to humanity. From educational advancement and hunger alleviation to water conservation and environmental restoration, his leadership has inspired the community to combine faith with action for the greater good.
