Gandhinagar : The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board recently revised the eligibility criteria for the position of Talati cum Mantri (Village Panchayat Secretary), now requiring candidates to hold a graduation degree, whereas previously, individuals with a class 12 qualification could apply for the role.

Youth leader Yuvrajsinh Jadeja has strongly opposed this decision, alleging that it’s a maneuver to camouflage the actual unemployment situation in the state.

Jadeja highlighted the significant surge in applicants during the 2018 Talati cum Mantri competitive exams, where approximately 32 to 33 lakh candidates applied for 3000 vacant positions. With the earlier eligibility allowing class 12 graduates to apply, the new graduation requirement is anticipated to reduce the number of applicants, portraying a falsely improved unemployment scenario.

Jadeja emphasized the need for the government to address the core issue of unemployment rather than resorting to superficial measures. He called for a focus on conducting fair competitive exams without leaks or cancellations, suggesting that this approach would be more beneficial than manipulating qualification standards to alter unemployment statistics.
