Ahmedabad : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Maan will visit Gujarat on January 7 and address a public meeting in Dediapada, party MLA Chaitar Vasava’s constituency.

Vasava, formerly a close aide of Bharatiya Tribal Party leader Chhotu Vasava, is behind bars in connection with an alleged case of extortion and assault.

AAP MP Sandeep Pathak, who was in Ahmedabad on December 26 to hold office with party office bearers, alleged that Vasava was framed in a wrong case as the BJP fears him in the Lok Sabha elections.

Pathak, who is also Gujarat’s in-charge for the party, met Vasava’s wife. He said the public meeting is organized to boost morale of the party workers in the MLA’s constituency.

He said that on which seats his party would contest the Lok Sabha elections would be decided by the India Alliance, but whichever seat may it be, the party would give a tough fight to the BJP.

Pathak alleged that the BJP silences the people. He further alleged that in Gujarat the BJP has been trying to “buy” politicians and if they do not toe the line then they are framed in wrong cases.

The AAP MP said that the first seat on which the BJP would lose is the seat from which Vasava would contest.

According to him, the BJP has not been able to digest the fact that people of Gujarat gave so many votes to the AAP. Though AAP won only five seats, it became a national party based on the vote share it secured in Gujarat.

One of its five MLAs Bhupendra Bhayani has quit the party and is likely to join the BJP soon.
