Surat: Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the dairy cooperative behind the iconic Amul brand, is expecting a robust 20% increase in its revenue this fiscal year, reaching around Rs 86,000 crore. This comes on the back of rising demand for dairy products across India.

Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of GCMMF, expressed confidence in the cooperative’s future growth, stating, “We are growing at a double-digit rate this year and have set a target of Rs 1 lakh crore in the next couple of years, which is pretty much achievable.”

Mehta highlighted the strategic importance of diversification and expansion, emphasizing, “What is important is that we demonstrate not just the impact of Amul in whatever space we are doing business, but we are continuing to build it further.”

This focus on expansion is evident in GCMMF’s involvement with three newly formed multi-state cooperatives by the Indian government. These cooperatives focus on exports, organic farming, and seeds, with GCMMF playing a key role in the exports cooperative.

“This opportunity to incubate these new multi-state cooperatives gives us the power to demonstrate the cooperative model on a global scale,” said Mehta. “It strengthens the example of how cooperatives can flourish and contribute significantly to women empowerment.”

Amul’s export footprint currently spans over 50 countries, and with increased milk procurement, the company plans to further expand its reach in key international markets. GCMMF currently procures around 300 lakh liters of milk per year from its network of over 36 lakh members.

The expected 20% revenue growth and ambitious target of Rs 1 lakh crore in two years paint a bright future for Amul and GCMMF. Their focus on innovation, diversification, and international expansion positions them as a leader in the global dairy industry.
