Ahmedabad : As Ahmedabad gears up for the highly anticipated Navratri festival, the city’s police force, in collaboration with the Crime Branch, has introduced an advanced security plan to ensure public safety and the smooth execution of events. The vibrant nine-day festival, which attracts massive crowds across the city, has prompted authorities to enforce stringent security measures to maintain law and order during the celebrations.

One of the key highlights of this year’s security strategy is the deployment of over 3,000 CCTV cameras throughout Ahmedabad. These cameras will provide comprehensive surveillance during the festival nights, covering both high-traffic areas and event venues. The network will include existing traffic surveillance cameras, cameras from the Nirbhaya Project, Smart City systems, and an additional 300 portable cameras that will be installed at key locations to monitor crowded zones closely.

In an effort to enhance security further, Ahmedabad Police have announced that they will integrate camera networks from local businesses, including shops, hotels, and restaurants, into the citywide system. This measure will ensure broader coverage and help authorities respond to any potential threats swiftly. Event organizers have also been instructed to install their own security cameras at festival venues, with special emphasis on monitoring entry and exit points to prevent overcrowding and maintain control over the flow of attendees.

The comprehensive surveillance system will allow the police to track crowd movements, detect suspicious activity, and respond to emergencies in real time. This level of coordination between different camera networks aims to create a seamless security grid across the city, ensuring that all public spaces are well-monitored during the festival.

In addition to technological reinforcements, increased police patrols and personnel deployment will be seen in busy areas, particularly near major Garba venues. The Crime Branch will also be actively involved in intelligence gathering and monitoring potential threats throughout the duration of Navratri.

With over 3,000 cameras and a well-coordinated security framework, the Ahmedabad Police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the festival’s participants.
