Ahmedabad : Income Tax Department Intensifies Probe into Orbit Group and Associates, unearths Benami Transactions

Ahmedabad : In a sweeping move, the Income Tax Department has escalated its scrutiny into the affairs of Vinesh Patel of Orbit Group and Dilip Ladani, culminating in a mega search operation across multiple offices and residences. The extensive probe, which extended to the properties of investors and promoters associated with the duo, stems from suspicions of several benami transactions and unaccounted cash.

Led by the investigation wing of the Rajkot division, a formidable team of 150 officers launched the operation in the early hours of Tuesday, delving deep into the financial web entwining Patel, Ladani, and their associates. Spearheading the efforts, Commissioner Draupsingh Meena orchestrated raids at approximately 15 locations in Rajkot, augmented by the participation of officials from various parts of Gujarat.

The meticulous operation unfolded over the course of a day and night, with officers commencing their search from the Ahmedabad office before proceeding to scrutinize a plethora of projects linked to the Orbit Group.

Notable among these were Orbit Tower and Orbit Royal Garden, alongside investigations into Ladani’s Twin Tower project. Additionally, the inquiry extended its purview to individuals intricately connected to the ventures, including partners Mayur Raddia, Danubha Jadeja (Domda), and financier Mahipat Singh Chudasama.

At the helm of the operation stands Investigation Wing officer Adarsh Tiwari, orchestrating a collaborative effort that drew personnel from Rajkot’s Junagadh, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat.

As the probe unfolds, the focus remains steadfast on unraveling the intricate financial dealings shrouding the Orbit Group and its affiliates, marking a significant stride in the pursuit of transparency and accountability within the realm of financial governance.
