Surat | Gujarat — Taking a step forward in women empowerment, the Adani Foundation Hazira has inaugurated sewing units in Vanswa and Selut villages of Choryasi and Olpad talukas. The initiative, launched in collaboration with Sakhi Mandal and Gram Panchayats, aims to make rural women self-reliant by equipping them with modern sewing skills and employment opportunities.

The Foundation distributed advanced sewing machines after providing initial training to women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs). These machines are capable of handling diverse stitching needs — from flax, jeans, and leather to bag making, embroidery, and interlock stitching — opening multiple avenues of income generation.

Highlighting the vision behind the project, an Adani Foundation representative said, “We believe that training alone is not enough. Women must be connected to sustainable sources of income. Along with skill-building, we are guiding them on pricing, sales, and linking their products to the market.”

Local leaders and villagers expressed their appreciation for this initiative. Choryasi Taluka Panchayat President Triptiben Patel stated, “This sewing unit is creating valuable local employment opportunities for women. With the Adani Foundation’s support, women in Hazira are gaining confidence and independence.”

Ashokbhai Rathod, Vice President of Zilla Panchayat, Surat, added, “The sewing unit will allow women to work from home and still become financially self-reliant.”

Nileshbhai Tadvi, Chairman of the Zilla Panchayat Irrigation Committee, called the project a significant step toward women’s development, while Vanswa Sarpanch Kailashben Rathod was praised for her efforts in making the unit a reality in her village. Similarly, Selut Sarpanch Binlaben Patel and vice-sarpanch Pareshbhai Patel described the project as an “important opportunity for women’s progress.”

This initiative has sparked new hope among rural families, ensuring that women of Choryasi and Olpad talukas can contribute actively to their households and communities.
