Adani Directors Offer Prayers at Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani

MUMBAI :  The arrival of Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai began with prayers and devotion as Adani Group directors Pranav Adani and Karan Adani visited the iconic Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani Ganpati with their families and offered prayers.

Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Limited and Managing Director of its Agro, Oil & Gas businesses, and Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited, paid obeisance at the historic pandal as the festival entered its 107th year.

Calling the visit a blessed moment, Pranav Adani said, “This festival is a symbol of Mumbai’s unity and cultural heartbeat, alongside its rich heritage of devotion and tradition.”

The Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani celebration traces its roots to Mumbai’s long-standing Ganeshotsav tradition, which gained a public dimension during the 1890s through Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. The mandal has been organising the festival near Chinchpokli Railway Station since 1939.

Its history is closely associated with Mumbai’s erstwhile mill districts, including Parel, Girgaon and Lalbaug, making it an important part of the city’s cultural landscape.

This year, the mandal has adopted a South Indian temple architecture theme. The Ganesha idol draws inspiration from Lord Venkateswara Balaji and is surrounded by traditional symbols such as Garuda, Shankha, Chakra and Kirtimukh. A grand Gopuram, Deepastambha and Yali figures add to the visual grandeur.

The mandal’s activities extend beyond religious celebrations. It regularly organises blood donation camps, healthcare initiatives and programmes for children. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it also conducted health camps, provided medical assistance and organised blood donation drives.

The celebrations once again bring together Mumbai’s devotion, heritage and spirit of community service.
