Surat : Chaitar Vasava, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA representing Dediapada, has launched a scathing attack on Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, holding him responsible for the recent floods along the Narmada River.

In a video message, Vasava asserted that the floods were a result of an event organized to welcome Narmada River waters on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday at the Sardar Sarovar Dam. The Gujarat Government organises the event every year to mark the birthday of PM Modi.

The controversy centers around an event that was organized to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday by welcoming the waters of the Narmada River. However, despite heavy rains in the catchment areas, the release of water from the Sardar Sarovar Dam had been halted for the past week. It was only immediately after the event concluded that the 23 gates of the dam were opened, releasing approximately 18 cusecs of water into the river.

The sudden release of water had devastating consequences, resulting in widespread flooding in numerous low-lying villages, as well as in the towns of Bharuch and Ankleshwar in the Bharuch district. According to Vasava, the floodwaters reached up to the first floor in many places, inundating residential colonies, damaging fields, livestock, shops, and roads.

Vasava strongly criticized the Gujarat government, saying, “We want to ask the Gujarat government how it is justifiable to put the lives of millions of people at risk due to your publicity campaigns?” He further emphasized the need for an immediate survey to assess the extent of damage and demanded compensation for any loss of life or property resulting from the floods.

In response to the crisis, the Aam Aadmi Party has mobilized its team to provide assistance and relief in various affected areas. Their focus is on serving the affected communities and helping them recover from the aftermath of the floods.
