AAP Alleges Assassination Plot Against MLA Gopal Italia in Junagadh

Junagadh | Gujarat — The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has levelled serious allegations against the BJP government alleging a serious conspiracy being hatched with the intention to kill Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia, after an unknown person tried to hurl a shoe at the Khedut Samman Sabha organised by AAP party at  Gadu village in Maliya Hatina of Junagadh district on late Friday night. AAP leaders claimed that the person was caught before he could hurl shoes on Italia and that he was possessing a knife. 

AAP sources said that when AAP MLA Gopal Italia was addressing the meeting, an unknown person tried to throw a shoe at him, however, as soon as this incident happened, the vigilant workers and police staff present there immediately took action and caught the person who threw the shoe. Fortunately, no major injury or untoward incident occurred in this incident, but there is a lot of heat in the political circles regarding this incident.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that such an incident has happened with Gopal Italia. Earlier, during a program in Jamnagar, a shoe was thrown at him. After the incident in Jamnagar, it was repeated once again in Maliya Hatina, raising questions about the security of the AAP MLA. Local leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party have condemned the incident in strong words, calling it an attack on democracy.

Aam Aadmi Party OBC Wing State President Piyush Parmar said that there was a public meeting of Gopalbhai Italy at Maliya Hati and after that there was also a public meeting in Amrapur. Bachhubhai Sisodia, the leader of the Jan Sangh and senior BJP leader joined Aam Aadmi Party. He joined the party along with thousands of his workers. This has served a severe blow to the BJP in Maliya Hatina. However, as a part of conspiracy, an attempt was made to throw a shoe at MLA Italia at the public meeting, but the AAP workers foiled that attempt .

“We have now received information that the person who threw a shoe at Gopalbhai is Sabbir Mir, a resident of Bhanduri village. His intention was not just to throw a shoe, he had also brought a knife with him. We are getting information that a conspiracy has been hatched somewhere to kill Gopalbhai. As part of this, his bosses were constantly calling him on his mobile phone. His intention was not to throw a shoe, but to attack Gopalbhai with a knife” said Piyush Parmar.

According to Parmar, he reached the Maliya Hatina police station on Saturday morning, but the attacker was not there. “I asked if there is a note in the station diary about it? there is no note in the station diary. Think about it, people of Gujarat, if an MLA is attacked in this way, no action is taken by the police. This conspiracy was hatched on the behest of the big leaders of BJP with the intention of trying to kill Gopalbhai” said Parmar.

“I am also going to give a written complaint to the Maliya Hatina police station. I want to ask the Home Minister of Gujarat, is this your law and order? Do BJP leaders want to do such low-level politics? In this, I specially request the SP that an impartial investigation should be conducted, a complaint should be filed against the conspirators and they should be sent to jail” added Parmar.

On March 2, 2017, while the then Home Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja was answering questions from the media outside the Gujarat Assembly and the cameras were on, Gopal Italia suddenly threw a shoe at Pradeepsinh and shouted slogans of corruption, ‘hai hai corruption, hai hai dictator’. 8 years after Gopal Italia threw a shoe, Congress worker Chhatrapal Singh threw a shoe at Gopal Italia in Jamnagar.
